A Patriotic Parade thought the City -

Do you consider yourself patriotic? Here's your chance to celebrate the 4th of July in a way that would make George Washington proud. So put on your favorite red, white, and blue outfit and head to our nation's capital for the quintessential Independence Day experience. It all starts with America's National Independence Day Parade, a cavalcade of activity that features marching bands from coast to coast, military units, patriotic floats, and celebs. The event kicks off at 11:45am on the corner of Constitution and 7th NW.
History buffs might want to swing by the National Archives for an animated reading of the Declaration of Independence. George and Martha Washington and a few of the founding fathers will be
stopping by.

Festivities and Fireworks -

Once you leave the parade, head to the U.S. Capitol's West Lawn for "A Capitol Fourth," a 90-minute musical spectacular. There you will find hoards of music lovers cheering on the National Symphony Orchestra beginning at 8pm. The doors open at 3pm, so arrive early to get a good spot. The event will be capped off by a beautiful interpretation of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture." The United States Army Presidential Salute Battery will provide live cannon fire to add to the spectacle. The day always ends with a band, as can be expected. After the concert, The National Mall hosts a very special firework show.
Of course, the weekend wouldn't be the same without a dose of sports, preferably baseball. So catch a Washington Nationals game during Fourth of July week and indulge in a good old' American hot dog.
